I Can't Take It Anymore!!

Have you ever found yourself shouting, "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!", on the drive to work? At work? Or maybe it was more of a whimper while forcefully holding back tears as you walked out the door, started your car, and headed towards several hours of misery.
Well, I have! A few times actually. I'll be the first to tell you that every job I've ever had, I never wanted. I took those jobs because I wanted to be a responsible adult. I wanted to make my parents proud of me. And most of all, I didn't want to be homeless or hungry. I'm allergic to both!
I lost my grip
At seventeen, I started down the road I was expected to travel, while firmly holding on to my optimistic view of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I had planned to work a few odd jobs here and there as I worked my way to Hollywood, script in hand and ready to roll. But, somewhere along the way I lost my grip on becoming a famous movie writer.
I woke up one day with a palm full of pessimism, stressed, depressed and crying on my way to work. I felt trapped, stuck between a rock and a hard place. I had lost my focus and I didn't even see it happening. I was only 23. Yet, I suddenly found myself discouraged by life.
What was I doing wrong?
I Figured Out It
For many years I didn't know what I was doing wrong, so I kept asking myself that same question over and over again. I even asked God to tell me what I was doing wrong. He never answered me or I missed it, somehow. Either way, I didn't get it.
I've been fired twice (first at 25 and again at 29) and each time I was overjoyed by the fact that I didn't have to go back to the very place that sucked the life out of my soul. I got the best sleep of my life on the night of each day that I was fired. I even slept in the following morning. After the second time I was fired, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was living to please everyone, but myself. While, I was busy making my parents and my bosses happy, I forgot to do the things that made me happy.
Be Mindful
All too often, we get caught up taking care of everyone around us. While they're busy unknowingly taking advantage of us, we're busy pleasing them in our selfless attempt to show them how much we love and care for them. It's okay to help those that we love, but we must monitor how much of our time and energy is spent doing things for others that drain us. My advice to you is...
Be mindful of your own personal needs and carefully tend to them in a timely manner or be in danger of allowing yourself to become overwhelmed and slipping into depression before you realize what's happening.
Take Care of Yourself First!
So, what should you do? How can you take better care of yourself? Meditate! Meditation is an easy way to relieve stress. Meditation heals us spiritually, aligns us mentally, emotionally, connects us to our higher selves, and the source of all that is; some people call the source: God, the creator, or the higher power.
But, no matter what you call the source, one thing is for sure and it's that meditation is beneficial for you and those whom you interact with. Meditation puts you in a better frame of mind, so that your creativity can start to flow making it possible to once again see the light at the end of the tunnel.
